Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to hit PS Vita in June

June isn’t typically a great time to release games, since everyone is high from the games announced at E3. However, when it comes to a tried-and-true classic like Metal Gear Solid, Konami’s move to re-release these gems just after the expo sometime might be a very smart move indeed.

The set of two games actually skips over the first game in the series and gives gamers Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, fully playable on the PlayStation Vita. Game saves will also be transferable from players’ PlayStation 3 system via the Transfarring feature.

Of course, the games will be fully optimized for all PlayStation Vita controls, including the front and rear touch screens. Players can also zoom in on cut scenes in real time, peek around corners, interrogate enemies, and perform quick knife attacks as the lethal assassin that they become in Solid Snake’s shoes.

The game, while not given an exact release date, will drop sometime in June. Theoretically, it could launch before E3, giving us some great games to play on the plane to Los Angeles, but odds are it’ll land mid-month as Sony can definitely hype up the title right before launch at the year’s biggest gaming convention.
