Japan getting custom Pokémon 3DS LLs

Pokemon-x-y-starter-pokemon-yveltalPokémon lovers take note, Nintendo has unveiled two Pokémon X and Y themed 3DS LLs featuring the new legendary creatures, Yveltal and Xerneas.  Unfortunately, both designs are currently only slated for a Japanese release, hence the LL moniker instead of XL.

The top of the gold design features Xerneas alongside the three starter Pokémon, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, with Yveltal on the back with three more silhouettes of the starters. The blue design features both legendaries side by side and large X and Y lettering superimposed on the front and back of the device.

Both of these designs will be released on October 12 alongside the much-coveted games.  They’ll each come packaged with one of the games, as well as a 4GB memory card, stylus and six AR Cards.

Considering how popular the Pikachu 3DS XL was in North America, let’s hope Japan takes note and releases more of these amazing exclusives here. The Pokémon Company tends to release very few custom designs of consoles anywhere other than Japan, making collectors resort to eBay for their (hugely marked up) purchases.

In fact, all this collectors edition talk makes us wonder why we’ve never seen a director’s cut or some collector’s edition version of the Pokémon games themselves. Of course, there is the third entry in each series, but we didn’t get that with Black & White or Black 2White 2 (then again, what were they supposed to give us, Pokémon Grey)? But really, who wouldn’t love to get some awesome collectibles with their Pokémon?

Which of the two designs would you snag if you could? Let us know in the comments below, and of course, on Twitter and Facebook!
