superman-batman-logo-770x513The Untitled Man of Steel sequel is set to begin shooting in the beginning of 2014 with Detroit as the background for Metropolis (or Gotham as the case may be).

While the whole of Michigan will see use, it is the recently bankrupt Detroit where the production will centre.

This is a much needed boost to the local economy considering that a shoot of this magnitude will reportedly spend $131 million within the state, hire 406 full-time Michigan workers, and spend $5.1 million on hotels.

In a statement, director Zack Snyder said the reason he chose Detroit is because “Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for the movie.”

The Man of Steel Sequel, set for release in 2015, could see the unfolding of the DC film universe (hopefully) or see it completely fall apart if unsuccessful.
