Next Bourne film delayed to 2016

Aaron Cross was set to return in the fifth instalment of the Bourne film franchise in 2015, but production delays have pushed its release to 2016.

The film will now hit theatres on July 15, 2016, pushed back from August 2015, and see Jeremy Renner return as Cross. Justin Lin (Fast FiveFast & Furious 6) will direct the flick. Series vet Frank Marshall will produce the movie, alongside Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner.

Sherlock Holmes writer Anthony Peckham has been rumoured to be writing Bourne 5, though there’s no concrete evidence to support that, nor have any official announcements been made.

No other casting announcements have been made, and while it looked like Matt Damon might return for the movie, don’t get your hopes up. As he put it before The Bourne Legacy released: “No one wants to hear me say “I remember” all over again.”
