Clementine’s increasingly bleak adventures in post-apocalyptic Georgia will wrap up their current season very soon.
The Walking Dead: Season Two’s fifth and final episode, No Going Back, will make its way to various platforms throughout next week, sticking true to Telltale’s usual release schedule. PC and Mac players worldwide, along with PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita players in North America, will get it first this Tuesday, August 26th. The following day, on Wednesday, August 27th, the episode will release on Xbox 360 worldwide, as well as PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita for European territories. Finally, on Thursday, August 28th, the episode will release for iOS worldwide.
Telltale has commemorated the finale’s imminent release with a massive five-plus-minute trailer, showcasing events from both seasons of their Walking Dead games. Obviously though, stay away from it if you aren’t caught up, as the trailer is jam-packed with spoilers, which Telltale themselves even warn you about in a disclaimer that kicks it off!
While it’s inevitable that many key characters of The Walking Dead: Season Two no doubt won’t survive the final episode, particularly given the rather hair-raising conclusion to the previous fourth episode, we already know that Telltale isn’t quite done with this universe. At this year’s Comic-Con, they confirmed that The Walking Dead: Season Three is happening, and is in early development. Despite this, it’s likely that we won’t see the new season until towards the end of 2015 at the earliest however, given that Telltale still has yet to start their promised episodic adventures that they already announced, Tales from the Borderlands, and their Game of Thrones game, which will no doubt unfold during that year.
It’s also possible that Telltale may want to make a follow-up season to their well-received Fables prequel, The Wolf Among Us somewhere next year as well, particularly given that its own recently-wrapped first season ended on a cliffhanger.
The Walking Dead: Season Two will eventually come to retail for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Xbox 360 later this year, if you have yet to buy it in digital form. It is also planned alongside The Wolf Among Us to eventually release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
