February 2015’s PlayStation Plus games are…

On the heels of Microsoft revealing the free Games with Gold offerings for February 2015 on Xbox One and Xbox 360, Sony has now chimed in with the six freebies that will be on offer for PlayStation Plus members next month.

Transistor - GameplayAs usual, players will need an active PlayStation Plus membership to redeem and play any of their free rewards at any time. February’s free rewards will go live on Tuesday, February 3rd as well, replacing January’s. As such, if you have yet to redeem Infamous: First Light, The Swapper, Prototype 2, DuckTales: Remastered, Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, or Woah Dave!, you have until this coming Tuesday to do so, before they return to their regular prices.

Anyhow, to start, PlayStation 4 owners with a PlayStation Plus membership will be able to redeem Transistor. This standout indie action-RPG from last year, developed by Supergiant Games, of Bastion fame, casts players in the role of Red, a woman who has gained mastery of the mysterious blade, The Transistor, and is being pursued by a mysterious robot force called The Process. The game was very highly acclaimed, and is also available for PC, Mac and Linux.Apotheon - Gameplay

The second PlayStation 4 reward for February is Apotheon, an all-new open-world action-adventure/RPG hybrid set in the world of Greek mythology, with players having to take the fight to the Greek Gods after they abandon the mortal realm. Developed by indie studio, Alientrap, the game will release for the first time on February 3rd, and will also come to PC.

Yakuza 4 - GameplayFor PlayStation 3 owners with a PlayStation Plus membership, their first free reward will be Yakuza 4. This open-world game by Sega is set in the world of Japanese organized crime, having players take control of multiple protagonists, and is a great way to gear up for the long-overdue Western localization of Yakuza 5 on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 this year. Yakuza 4 is exclusive to PlayStation 3, and has seen mostly positive reviews since its Japanese debut in 2010.Thief - Gameplay

The second free reward for PlayStation Plus members is Thief, a reboot of the highly celebrated stealth-adventure series by Square Enix. Thief has players sneaking around a dank, dark city, headed by a ruthless baron as the townsfolk stand on the brink of rebellion, undertaking missions, and both exploring and pilfering at their leisure. Thief received mixed feedback upon its release in February 2014, and is also available on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Kick & Fennick - GameplayLastly, PlayStation Vita owners with a PlayStation Plus membership can redeem an all-new platformer, Kick & Fennick to start. Releasing for the first time on February 3rd, and developed by indie studio, Jaywalkers Interactive, Kick & Fennick has players controlling the titular duo, with Kick being a young boy, and Fennick being a kindly robot with a damaged power core. The game is a 2.5D platformer in a similar vein as vintage original PlayStation titles like Gex and Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, and is exclusive to PlayStation Vita.

The second free PlayStation Vita reward for PlayStation Plus members this February is Rogue Legacy, a roguelike action-RPG where players restart in a procedurally-generated dungeon every time they die against the game’s challenging enemies. Rogue Legacy has received highly positive feedback since its initial release on PC, Mac and Linux in 2013, and we also awarded the belated PlayStation ports a strong 90% review last year. Rogue Legacy will also be coming to Xbox One later in 2015. Lastly, Rogue Legacy is the lone cross-buy offering for this month’s free PlayStation Plus rewards. Redeeming it on any platform will net you the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions simultaneously, at no cost!Rogue Legacy - Gameplay

This is a very exciting month for PlayStation Plus, with every platform receiving at least one epic, large-scale game release, and PlayStation 3 even getting two! The all-new releases of Apotheon and Kick & Fennick do a great job of rounding off the selection, and it’s possible that this could be one of the strongest PlayStation Plus months of all 2015!
