Mass Effect 4 unmasked as Mass Effect: Andromeda

EA kicked off their E3 2015 keynote in style, finally revealing the first look at the company’s widely-known development effort on a fourth Mass Effect game. The pre-rendered CG teaser was vague, though it did show an obscured human hero in N7 gear diving down to a nearby planet, and then entering the series’ infamous Mako all-terrain vehicle. This gave way to a logo, revealing the game’s title as ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda‘.

ME4 - LogoThere’s no story details revealed about the highly anticipated sci-fi action-RPG sequel at this point, at least beyond EA’s previous revelation that the new Mass Effect game won’t star the series’ former protagonist, Commander Shepard. The title appears to suggest that it will take place in the real-life Andromeda Galaxy, though ‘Andromeda’ could mean any number of things.

BioWare Montreal is developing Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is in development for a Holiday 2016 release window, placing it quite a while from now. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
