Report: Green Lantern will appear in Justice League movie after all

Despite director, Zack Snyder initially being adamant that next year’s DC superhero ensemble movie, Justice League would be omitting one of the team’s key founders and leaders, Green Lantern, a new report from TheWrap suggests that the plan may have changed, and there may be a Green Lantern appearance in the movie after all. According to TheWrap’s report, at least one Green Lantern will make a cameo in the movie, during what they describe as a, “Key sequence”, despite the intergalactic guardian still not yet being a part of the DC Extended Universe’s Justice League proper at this point.gl-comics

TheWrap didn’t specify exactly which Green Lantern would be featured in this alleged scene, which could very well not even make it into the movie’s final cut, though should this report be true, it would mean that DC has already covertly cast at least one Green Lantern for the DC Extended Universe. It’s not difficult to believe that a Green Lantern casting could be kept secret as well, as Warner Bros. successfully hid Ezra Miller’s casting as the big screen incarnation of The Flash, until they properly announced the Flash movie within their upcoming DC Extended Universe movie slate in 2014.

At this point, we know quite a bit about new character appearances for the DC Extended Universe in Justice League, namely that Joe Maganiello is to cameo as DC villain, Deathstroke, before becoming a main antagonist in solo movie, The Batman later, J.K. Simmons will debut as Commissioner James Gordon, Amber Heard will debut as Aquman love interest, Mera, and Willem Dafoe will debut as Aquaman advisor, Vulko, with Kiersey Clemons also believed to be debuting as Flash love interest, Iris West in the movie. Ciaran Hinds will be portraying Justice League’s main villain, Steppenwolf as well. TheWrap’s report also clarifies what many DC fans no doubt already put together, that Steppenwolf will be seeking the ‘Mother Boxes’, powerful alien technology that was foreshadowed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with one guarded by Wonder Woman’s Amazons, one guarded by Aquaman’s Atlanteans, and one guarded by humanity, which was likely the Mother Box that led to the creation of DC superhero, Cyborg in the DC Extended Universe.

Justice League will hit theatres on November 17th, 2017, while the dedicated Green Lantern Corps. movie is scheduled for July 24th, 2020.
