Next month could very well end up being the Games With Gold program’s best one yet. Sure, this is always a debatable and subjective thing to say, but given that all four of August’s newly announced freebies are big titles, we’re pretty confident in saying it.
Things will kick off with the month’s headliner, Forza Horizon 2. That is, one of the best racing games ever made, if not the best. Playground Games’ exotic arcade racer will be free from August 1st to August 31st, and shouldn’t be missed by anyone who’s ever enjoyed a racing game before.
August’s second Xbox One game will be none other than Ubisoft’s For Honor, the historically focused sword-fighting game that tests players’ reaction times and their ability to strategize all at once. It’s been updated quite a bit since release, and is said to be a lot better than it was then, when we reviewed it. Expect to be able to download and play it for free from August 15th through to September 15th.
On the Xbox 360 (and backwards compatibility) side of things, there will be another two good and notable games, those being Dead Space 3 (August 1-15) and Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two (August 16-31).
Needless to say, it’s going to be a really stacked month for Microsoft’s Games With Gold promotion. Perhaps that’s because Xbox Live is currently on sale.
