Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 And 2 Remastered will unleash impressive combos this fall

Those of us who’ve spent more time playing the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles than almost anything else are in luck, as Activision has announced that it intends to release remastered versions of both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 this fall. Yes, you read that right. As corny as it sounds, all of our wishing and hoping has come true.

“The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series is a big factor in the evolution of modern skateboarding tricks and inspiring many of the pro skaters you know and love today,” said Tony Hawk. “I’m excited to help inspire a new generation of skateboarders and gamers – and existing fans – to grow the sport even further.”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is what they’re calling it, and it’s a collection that will feature more than just improved sound and visuals. As the press release states, the games will now include mechanics from later entries, such as reverts and lip tricks, wall plants, classic multiplayer modes (for both online and couch play) and both Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park, which allows for creation sharing. All of that, along with new goals and challenges.

You can also expect original songs and talent, which we hope will mean the return of Goldfinger’s Superman. What we do know is that many of the original skaters will return, such as Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Geoff Rowley, Chad Muska, Elissa Steamer, Rodney Mullen, Bob Burnquist, Rune Glifberg, Eric Koston and my favourite, Andrew Reynolds.

“Getting the chance to bring back the original two games which had such a meaningful impact not only on gaming, but on an entire sports genre, has been an epic experience for our team, many of whom worked on the original series,” said Jen Oneal, Studio Head at Vicarious Visions. “We’re taking what you knew and loved from the original games and mixing that with enhanced creative tools which will allow gamers to invent brand new ways to play the game they love. We’re confident it will be the ultimate Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater experience fans have been asking for.”
