Merge Games unveils stylish cyberpunk action shooter, Foreclosed

Combining a comic book style with a cyberpunk aesthetic and the framework of a graphic novel, Merge Games’ Foreclosed is an interesting sounding experience. Revealed yesterday evening, through press release means, it’s a stylistic action shooter that features a unique art style and storyline.

As you may be able to tell, this title was inspired by the likes of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, Hard Boiled, and both the Deus Ex and May Payne series of video games. If not, these comparisons will soon become obvious.

Set in a futuristic world, Foreclosed tells the story of a man named Evan Kapnos, whose life was recently foreclosed upon. Having lost his job, he now fears the loss of his life, including the brain implants and his access to the city’s Blockchain. In order to continue being himself, he must risk it all by attempting to escape the city, before his implants and identity are all auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Here are the key features, as listed in the aforementioned release:

  • Slick Cyberpunk Action – Foreclosed blends a striking comic book aesthetic alongside high-octane, cyberpunk infused action gameplay.
  • Hi-tech Combat – Modify your symbiotic pistol and use your brain implant abilities to manipulate your surroundings and fight back against the system.
  • Firmware Upgrades – Discover and unlock new abilities with an RPG-like skill system
  • Interactive Comic Book – Everything from gameplay to cinematics are experienced within the stylistic framework of a graphic novel to make you truly feel like a comic book hero..
