Chronos: Before the Ashes has a unique levelling system

Gunfire Games (Darksiders III) is bringing its VR game, Chronos, to consoles and PC. The reworked and non-virtual reality title will thus allow fans of Remnant: From the Ashes to check out its prequel without needing an expensive set of goggles.

Chronos: Before the Ashes promises a very unique levelling system, which makes your hero wait a year before retrying. As such, every defeat will make you older, providing you with experience but limiting your physical prowess over time. That means you’ll need to focus more on arcane abilities as your age trends upwards.

In Chronos, the prequel story of Remnant: From the Ashes, the player takes the role of a young hero, trying to save his home from an ancient evil. To do this, a chosen one is sent to a mysterious labyrinth, full of both fearsome and mystic creatures, along with challenging puzzles. Combat is unforgiving and brutal – but in Chronos, death is not the end. Each time the hero fails, he is cast out and must wait one year to return to the labyrinth – you can try again, but one year older. When you start your journey, it’s still easy to get stronger and quicker, but the older you get, the more important your wisdom about the arcane powers will become.

This one will release on December 1st, and will do so on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, Stadia and PC.
