Fable gets a release window, as well as new details

Today’s Xbox Developer Direct presentation concluded with a new look at Fable, which we’ve been eagerly anticipating. That, as well as a release window for the game.

Developer Playground Games — who created a new team to reboot this well loved RPG series — revealed that players will take control of Albion’s first hero in quite some time, and will get to explore a truly open world that will be fully available from the start. After awakening in a small village, they’ll begin their quest, and will be able to participate in the world in a game within the game, so to speak. This includes buying a house, romancing a villager, getting a job, making money, becoming a landlord, evicting tenants or hiring one of the 1000 unique NPCs. You can also ditch monogamy and be frivolous with your amount of partners, homes, etc.

The aforementioned NPCs will be able to comment on your character and other things. It’s here where a reputation system comes into play. As such, some of your choices will change the world and how things play out.

Combat will once again combine melee and ranged attacks with spells. You can use these abilities on enemies, or also on chickens you wish to piss off.

Fable will thankfully apparently release this coming fall. It is coming to PS5, as well as Xbox (and PC).
