In some rare footage that’s gained some popularity on YouTube lately, we hear Steven Spielberg interview Henry Thomas who ended up wowing the producers in the room to win the part of Elliott in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial all the way back in 1982.

There isn’t much to say other than it is incredible to see how someone so young earned such an iconic role. Henry wasn’t so much acting as simply embodying what someone in his shoes – Elliott, perhaps – would feel when some big bad man from the government would come to take away his best friend.

It’s truly an incredible clip that turns from a little boy seemingly understanding what Spielberg explains to him moments before into the purity of a little boy and his companion. See for yourself and share this video to brighten up someone’s day.
