Bungie fires Halo, Destiny composer Marty O’Donnell

According to his Twitter account and a blog post on the company’s website, Halo and Destiny composer Marty O’Donnell has left Bungie.

O’Donnell took to Twitter to say that Bungie “terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014” while Bungie’s official post on their website states that they left “as friends”.

We don’t know what the real story is, nor if we will ever find out, but we know there is more to the story. It just looks like there won’t be a soundtrack for it. Not at Bungie, anyway.

It’ll be interesting to see if Marty moves to 343 Industries to work on the next Halos that are in the works. That is, without a doubt, the word going around the 343i offices right now, and while we’re positive there is a non-compete agreement in place, it would be great to see Marty at the new house of Halo, especially as it moves into next-gen on Xbox One.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest details, if anything else becomes known.
