Hard to believe that it’s already been four years since its predecessor, Mortal Kombat X, was released. Back then, there was no such thing as the PlayStation 4 Pro, or the Xbox One S (let alone the Xbox One X), and even Nintendo Switch was still called the Nintendo NX.
Move forward to 2019, and Mortal Kombat 11 is now hitting all those platforms, plus Steam on Windows PC, naturally.
The game continues on after the events of Mortal Kombat X, as Raiden’s defeat of Shinnok has upset Kronika and the balance between good and evil. To restore stability in the realms, Kronika has only one option – rewind time to its beginning and restart history.
Mortal Kombat 11‘s roster at launch is a healthy 24 characters, both classic and newcomers: Baraka, Cassie Cage, Cetrion, D’Vorah, Erron Black, Frost, Geras, Jaqui, Jade, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kabal, Kano, Kitana, Kollector, Kotal Kahn, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Noob Saibot, Raiden, Scorpion, Skarlet, Sonya and Sub-Zero.
New downloadable characters are also going to be available over time, and it appears the sleuthing interwebs may have also stumbled across some leaked information about who those characters may be.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
