The Outer Worlds: Peril in Gorgon expansion to release in September

Fans of The Outer Worlds will be able to return to Halcyon and undertake a new quest this fall.

During this afternoon’s Xbox Games Showcase, it was revealed that Obsidian’s fantastic FPS/RPG hybrid will receive its first expansion this September. They call it The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon, and it’s said to be about 6-8 hours long. Not only that, but it will introduce a new planet and allow you to take your crew along with you.

This inaugural add-on will not be separate from the base game, and will be incorporated into the campaign instead. Although players will spend a good amount of time on the canyon-filled planet of Gorgon, they (and the crew of the Unreliable) will also have to visit other hubs to complete quests.

Gorgon will host a mystery for players to solve, and it’s one that involves solving a murder. The neat thing is, though, that you’ll be able to decide how to go about that. It is, after all, possible to kill all suspects before solving the who-dunnit.

The Outer Worlds’ Peril on Gorgon expansion will hit Xbox One and PS4 on September 9th, and its announcement has made this author kick himself for uninstalling such a great game. This add-on will set you back $14.99, and can be purchased in an expansion pack for $24.99. Doing so will grant you access to the game’s second piece of DLC as well.

Switch users will unfortunately have to wait.
