PlayStation State of Play Recap [2.12.24]

Earlier today, Sony held a PlayStation State of Play address, during which they announced new projects and release information for others. If you missed it, we have a recap for you.

– Capcom shared a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, which showed a returning monster: Mizutsune.

– The classic Shinobi franchise will return on August 28th, with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.

– SEGA shared a new trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and announced that a network test will occur later this month.

– Digimon Story Time Stranger is a new Digimon game, and will be released this year.

– Lost Soul Aside can be preordered starting next Wednesday, February 19th.

– Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to receive a demo on Friday.

– Dave the Diver is getting Ichiban’s Holiday (Yakuza) DLC

– WWE 2K25 is coming to PS4 and PS5 on March 14th.

– Borderlands 4 received a new trailer, and a release date. It’s set to drop on September 22nd.

– Hazelight’s Split/Fiction got a new story trailer.

– Directive 8020 is a new horror game from Supermassive. It’s the the story of “the brave astronauts of the Cassiopeia” who “embark on a deadly mission to save humanity, but their ship is infected by an alien lifeform that perfectly imitates its prey,” according to the YouTube description. This one will release on October 2nd.

– Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Secret of Mimic will launch on June 13th.

– The Midnight Walk is a “handcrafted” game that promises “a dark fantasy adventure.” It’s coming to PS5 and PSVR2 on May 8th.

– Help an octopus escape a food factory and get back to the ocean in Darwin’s Paradox!

– Warrior’s Abyss released today, for PS4 and PS5.

– Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is being remastered, and promises better visuals and controls. It’s set to release on May 23rd.

– Onimusha: Way of the Sword received its first trailer, and a launch window of 2026. It also introduced its main character: Miyamoto Musashi.

– Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater — the remake of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater — will be released on August 28th. The PS5 version will feature Ape Escape content, while the Xbox Series one will apparently incorporate Bomberman.

– Hell is Us will tackle the demons known as humankind on September 4th.

– Elden Ring: Nightreign launches May 30th, and preorders are open.

– Lies of P: Overture is a prequel to the original game. It’s coming to PS4 and PS5, and likely Xbox too.

– Pixeljunk’s Dreams of Another is a third-person shooter that has you build and not destroy.

– Days Gone Remastered is coming out on April 25th!

– Stellar Blade is getting Goddess of Victory: Nikke DLC in June.

– Blue Prince – “a genre-bending, atmospheric, architectural adventure where you explore an ever-changing manor of 45 shifting rooms” – was announced.

– Abiotic Factor is coming to consoles this summer.

– Tides of Annihilation was revealed. “When the streets of London are engulfed by an Outworld invasion, the only survivor, Gwendolyn, discovers a mysterious power to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table,” reads the YouTube description for Tides of Annihilation. “Driven by vengeance and the desperate need to save her sister, she embarks on a high-stakes journey across two worlds: a shattered modern London and the mythical Avalon.”

– Metal Eden looks like it’s a fast-paced sci-fi shooter.

– Mindseye is a new IP that combines AI with human greed.

– Housemarque — the developers of Returnal – announced a new game called Saros and shared its teaser trailer.
