This morning, Activision officially unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which we assumed was coming next. Developed by Infinity Ward, it will release on October 23, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. There will be no last generation version.
Set in an escalating global conflict on the Korean Peninsula, players will control Private Park; a young South Korean soldier thrust into a full scale North Korean invasion. Meanwhile, outside of the system, Captain Price works in search of a weapon that threatens the world. Said campaign will take players around the world, where they’ll experience close-quarters combat in New York, car chases through Paris and SAS night raids in Mumbai.
Read on for more about other modes, which was taken from the press release:
Multiplayer delivers grounded, precise combat, built around fluid movement that provides greater control than ever before. Multiplayer introduces Ballistic Authority, a new weapons-first innovation that brings the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet. Modern Warfare 4 will launch with 12 Core maps, spanning visually distinct locations around the world, plus Kill Block, a new and dynamic battleground that reconfigures its layout between rounds across more than 500 configurations.
DMZ returns as the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience, dropping solo players and squads into a shifting combat zone where every deployment plays out differently. Additional details for DMZ will drop on June 7.
Modern Warfare 4 is built with a renewed focus on PC players, with Infinity Ward and Beenox partnering to give more control over performance, visual fidelity, responsiveness, and customization on PC.
