Microsoft has announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to the incredible 2013 thriller, Tomb Raider, will be an Xbox One exclusive.
Making the announcement at Gamescom in Germany this morning, Microsoft didn’t announce much else about the game, other than the release date which is still set for Holiday 2015.
The original title in the reboot of the franchise was set for Holiday 2012, but later pushed to Spring 2013. The wait was well worth it, as the game was easily one of our favourites of the year.
This is a bigger deal than some might realize, as Tomb Raider is very much synonymous with the PlayStation brand. It will be interesting to see if the game breaks off from the Xbox One in the year after its release, or whether the franchise will continue as an exclusive on Microsoft’s platform going forward.
