CBS announces Fall premiere dates for Supergirl, Limitless and more

CBS has nailed down their Fall programming schedule, including when shows will debut, and which timeslots they will all line up in. Naturally, this includes high-profile new CBS shows such as Supergirl and Limitless, along with returning favourites such as The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds and Elementary.

BBT - Cast ArtDC Comics adaptation, Supergirl is receiving an especially high amount of attention for its premiere date as well. CBS has released a dedicated Twitter video for their new superhero drama series, where Supergirl star, Melissa Benoist reveals the date directly. This comes as a result of the pilot episode getting leaked online, with early buzz around the show now being extra positive, as the pilot was received warmly by most viewers who watched it early.

As is usual for CBS, Thursday Night Football will alter the schedule to a degree until November, namely with the placement of The Big Bang Theory, which will once again begin on Mondays, and return to Thursdays after football’s regular season ends. New comedy, Life in Pieces will also switch spots with the conclusion of Thursday Night Football, come November. Even Supergirl will have its timeslot shifted to a half-hour earlier after football wraps, though this will then put it into direct competition with FOX’s competing DC Comics-inspired drama series, Gotham.

Regardless, CBS’ Fall lineup premiere dates are listed below:

As usual, for CBS, the lineup is quite serial drama-heavy, though the network’s Thursday night comedy bloc is intact, with juggernaut series, The Big Bang Theory still spear-heading it, followed by new series, Life in Pieces getting a high-billed slot between that and veteran series, Mom, rounded off with CBS’ other high-profile new comedy series, Angel from HellSupergirl is also predictably taking charge on Monday nights, no doubtSupergirl - CBS providing a strong lead-in to the returning Scorpion, and the reliable NCIS: Los Angeles to follow it, with Supergirl by far being one of the network’s biggest tentpole dramas next season. Beyond that though, much of the lineup appears to be largely untouched for the rather conservative network, beyond the new additions of Code Black and Limitless to fill in the gaps of the network’s cancelled dramas from last season.
