A solitary post on the Batman Arkham Facebook page has a nondescript image displaying “SAVE THE DATE 12.31.2013” in what appears to be a very BioShock-inspired motif.

The caption of the photo reads, “Visit this page on December 31st for a special announcement…more details to come next week!”

The post, which has been highlighted as a featured post by the company, has people wondering what we can expect with this oddly-timed announcement.

We’re not expecting a massive game announcement as people will certainly be pre-occupied with something else that is going on that evening and into the next day (and next year, for the matter), so we’d put our money on some sort of downloadable content or other expansion. Of course, it couldn’t hurt if there was a full game in the works, though with Arkham Origins released less than three months ago, we’re not counting on it.

Sony pulled a similar move when they announced the next iteration in the Uncharted series on the eve of the PlayStation 4 launch. That still may have been a better move since the focus remained on the company and its latest console, so we’re hoping Warner Bros. has something really clever up their sleeves or their message will get lost in all the New Year’s Eve celebrations around the globe.
