Nintendo announces Pushmo World for Wii U eShop

Pushmo World - LogoPushmo and its sequel, Crashmo are widely considered to be two of the very best games on the entire 3DS eShop. Both involve pushing, pulling and climbing an arrangement of blocks to reach a goal, and feature over two-hundred puzzles to solve.

Now, Nintendo has confirmed that the puzzling fun will expand to Wii U, with Pushmo World. Even better is that this surprise game is mere weeks away, set to release for $9.99 on the Wii U eShop worldwide on June 19th of this year!

Pushmo World will maintain the familiar gameplay of its 3DS predecessors, including offering the ability for players to create and share their own custom puzzle designs in Pushmo Studio. Pushmo World will also add a new feature called the Pushmo World Fair, a social hub that will connect to the game’s Miiverse community.

To help celebrate the impending release of this new Pushmo game, Pushmo and Crashmo have temporarily had their prices reduced by 33% on the 3DS eShop until June 13th. If you’re eager to see what the fuss is about, there’s never been a better time to check out one of Nintendo’s most exceptional new IP’s from their current hardware generation.

While Nintendo is sometimes criticized for their apparent lack of new IP in the triple-A circuit, the accusation that Nintendo hasn’t made new IP’s for 3DS or Wii U is actually incorrect. There are lots of them, but most are unique to the eShop catalogues. Other eShop-exclusive new Nintendo IP’s include: Ketzal’s Corridors, Sakura Samurai, Dillon’s Rolling Western, Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball, and, naturally, Pushmo, among others, all worth checking out by avid Nintendo gamers. Some of these IP’s will even cameo as Nintendo-branded collectibles in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for 3DS and Wii U.

Pushmo World may be featured among Nintendo’s playable E3 offerings in June, but that’s unconfirmed at this time. Regardless, while Nintendo is once again shirking a traditional E3 keynote, as they did last year, they will hold a ‘Digital Event’ broadcast on June 10th, at 9:00 A.M. PDT/12:00 P.M. EST, where new and upcoming games on 3DS and Wii U will be revealed and showcased in greater detail for 2014 and beyond. At least one all-new and high-profile announcement is being planned for 3DS as well, as Nintendo has already distributed invitations to a private roundtable event related to this unannounced 3DS game.
