Call of Duty announcement livestream coming May 30

It appears we’ll be getting a reveal of the next Call of Duty game in less than 24 hours, with the reveal livestream taking place on May 30 at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account hinter that it is “going dark” and posted the following teaser.

The game, widely believed to be the next entry in the Modern Warfare franchise, is under development by Infinity Ward, the original studio behind the very first entry in the series. They also have a habit of developing games that take place in the future, with the exception of the first two Call of Duty games, which were set during World War II.

While details are few and far between on this year’s release–we usually get the first unveil of the game at the end of April, and the gameplay reveal at or around E3 in June–it is confirmed by Activision that the game will focus on delivering an engaging single-player story. Last year’s Black Ops 4, developed by Treyarch, was multiplayer-only with both traditional matchmaking maps and a battle royale mode called Blackout.

In addition, the game will also have “an entirely new campaign, a huge and expansive multiplayer world and some fun co-op gameplay.”

Expect to hear more about Modern Warf– err, whatever the next Call of Duty game happens to be, on May 30, with a full reveal likely to come on stage at the Microsoft Xbox E3 Briefing on Sunday, June 9th.
