Mass Effect: Legendary Edition gets a teaser and a release date

We now know when Electronic Arts’ Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will arrive, and it’ll be on a date that isn’t too far away.

Earlier today, EA released an official reveal trailer for the collection, which is set to include remastered versions of the first three Mass Effect games. Alongside this new look and tease, they also revealed when we’ll be able to get our grubby little mitts on it. That is, May 14th of this year.

“When you look at the amount of effort that it was going to take to do that, it was easily commensurate if not greater than uplifting all of Mass Effect 1,” Game Director Mac Walters stated to GameSpot.

“And I think our focus really was on the single-player experience and, at some point, we just had to draw the line. I love Mass Effect 3 multiplayer–and like I said, people are still playing it today, but ultimately the product, the overall Mass Effect Legendary Edition, is a better representation of the original trilogy because we were able to focus on those single-player moments.”

The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but will also offer 4K optimizations on next-gen consoles. All three games are said to have been lovingly updated, and will hopefully look and play amazing on modern hardware.
