Nintendo Direct promising 40 minutes of games airs tomorrow

Nintendo is a company that doesn’t do things with much fanfare, until they set the internet ablaze with a tweet announcing their latest Nintendo Direct presentation, airing February 9th at 5pm Eastern / 2pm Pacific.

While Nintendo is being unsurprisingly silent on what will be shared, they curiously word their announcement as “40 minutes of information mainly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching in the first half of 2022.”

While we aren’t expecting any non-game announcements such as updates on the Super Mario movie, this does mean that there is not likely to be more than one or two games outside of the first half of 2022 shown off. While Bayonetta 3 got the spotlight shone on it at the most recent Nintendo Direct in September, we haven’t seen anything from the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild since E3 2021, which means we might be due for an update.

Nintendo re-confirmed earlier this month that both games are still slated for a 2022 release, so we may see both of them tomorrow after all.

The previous Nintendo Direct was held at the end of September and also contained about 40 minutes of games, but with an even shorter announcement lead time. The Direct presentation showed up the very same day.
