Don’t Let Her Go by Willow Rose Review

When a young girl goes missing, and a body is found in a nearby pond, Detective Billie Anne Wild is placed on the case.

Above lays the basic plot of Willow Rose’s latest effort, which marks the beginning of a new series. It’s titled Don’t Let Her Go.

This is your run of the mill thriller, with twists and turns that you may see coming. As you read, you’ll be transported from the main timeline to the past, when another girl was kidnapped. It’s pretty easy to keep track of things, for the most part.

Our new heroine is somewhat interesting. She’s coming to terms with her sexuality, and is dealing with familial troubles as a result. These are intertwined throughout the narrative. There are also things from her past that are coming up.

For the most part, the writing is solid, but it’s kind of wooden. Don’t go into this book expecting great prose. You won’t find it. The writing serves the book though, and is definitely serviceable.

In the end, Don’t Let Her Go by Willow Rose is a solid, but unspectacular, novel. It’s not a very original thriller, but it’s entertaining and makes you think a bit, even though parts are a bit predictable.

This review is based on a copy of the book we were provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Receiving a free copy did not sway our opinion.
