Alan Wake 2: First expansion, Night Springs, revealed

Those who’ve been patiently waiting for news of Alan Wake 2 DLC will be happy to hear that the game’s first expansion has been revealed. It’s a unique one, too, and carries the familiar title of Night Springs. That is, of course, a title that will be familiar to fans of the great horror series.

Night Springs will bring three episodes, and three playable characters, to Alan Wake 2. They include Shawn Ashmore’s Jack Joyce (from Quantum Break), Control’s Jesse Faden (Courtney Hope) and Alan Wake’s biggest fan, the local diner’s waitress. These are versions of said characters, who only exist in the fictional town for which this expansion is named.

“Put yourself in the shoes of the Number One Fan, who bears a striking resemblance to the waitress Rose Marigold, and fight the shadows in pursuit of truth and love with your trusty shotgun by your side. As the Actor, who may be called “Shawn Ashmore” in some realities and “Sheriff Timothy Breaker” in others, you will take on the mantle of the Time Breaker and defeat the villain hunting for you. And in the North Star episode, unravel coffee-based secrets and cosmic caffeine mysteries as the Sibling, who may seem familiar to those who know Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control.”

Night Springs will be released on June 8th. It’s part of the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass and its Deluxe Edition.

The game is also going to be made available through physical means, which will make a lot of people happy. We know that some folks avoided it because it was digital only. The physical copies will be limited to Deluxe and Collector’s Editions, both of which will contain the expansions.

Night Springs is not the end, though. A second expansion, called The Lake House, will be released at a later date. It has to do with a mysterious government facility on Cauldron Lake, and deals with what went wrong there.
