Well, the rumours and teasers were correct: Activision is remaking Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, and the games will release for modern devices soon. Unfortunately, the thought that we’d receive a shadow drop of the two games today didn’t pan out.
The last two truly great Tony Hawk games will jump forward twenty years when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches on July 11th. It will do so for PlayStaton 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series, Nintendo Switch and PC. Those who subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass will receive it ‘free,’ whereas buying the game outright will apparently cost $50 USD. Of course, there will be a Digital Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition, both of which will be more expensive (maybe $80 USD, if rumours are true.)
The Digital Deluxe Edition offers exclusive content that includes Doom Slayer and Revenant characters, in-game skate decks, Create-a-Skater items, and more. The Collector’s Edition includes everything in the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a Limited-Edition full-size Birdhouse skateboard deck with a printed Tony Hawk autograph.
Those who preorder any edition of the games will receive a Foundry demo in June, and the Wireframe Tony shader at launch. Folks who preorder the more expensive editions will also get early access starting on July 8th.
Originally teased in the new to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 map, Grind Ooze, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will introduce new tricks, new parks, new skaters and an even gnarlier soundtrack.
The list of skaters includes:
- Tony Hawk
- Kareem Campbell
- Bucky Lasek
- Steve Caballero
- Geoff Rowley
- Andrew Reynolds
- Elissa Steamer
- Chad Muska
- Eric Koston
- Rodney Mullen
- Jamie Thomas
- Rune Glifberg
- Bob Burnquist
- Rayssa Leal (new)
- Chloe Covell (new)
- Jamie Foy (new)
- Zion Wright (new)
- Yuto Horigome (new)
Plus secret skaters.
The iconic soundtrack returns with fan-favorite songs from the original games, including “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead, “Amoeba” by Adolescents, “Mass Appeal” by Gang Starr, “96 Quite Bitter Beings ” by CKY, “Not the Same” by Bodyjar, and KRS-One’s “Outta Here,” alongside new tracks that capture the spirit of modern skate culture.
There will also be cross-platform multiplayer for up to 8 skaters.
The iconic games, which we consider to be two of the best ever made, are being faithfully remade by Iron Galaxy Studios.
