This is Grant Gustin as “The Flash”

The internet is abuzz with a particular image showcased by The CW and DC Comics today, finally publicly revealing a side-view headshot of actor, Grant Gustin in costume as the titular lead in Arrow spin-off, The Flash.

Here’s your first look at The Fastest Man Alive:

The costume again comes from three-time Oscar-winning designer, Colleen Atwood, who also designed Oliver Queen’s vigilante threads in Arrow. It would seem that, while the costume has been predictably dulled from the bright colours of the comic panels, it’s still largely faithful to how The Flash appears in the funny pages.

The Flash has largely cemented the rest of the cast that will be working with Gustin in the pilot. It will also star: Candice Patton as Iris West, Barry Allen’s good friend and inevitable love interest, Jesse L. Martin as Iris’s father, Detective West, Rick Cosnett as Central City police transfer, Eddie Thawne, teased to be connected to Flash arch-enemy, Professor Zoom, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, known as superhero, Vibe in DC Comics, Danielle Panabaker as bioengineering scientist, Caitlin Snow, who becomes icy villainess, Killer Frost in DC Comics, and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, the disgraced head of S.T.A.R. Labs who comes under fire for the particle accelerator accident that gave Barry his super-speeding powers.

John Wesley Shipp, the lead actor in the live-action Flash television series from 1990, will guest star in the pilot in a secret role as well. This leaves the only role yet to be cast being Hartley Rathaway, who becomes DC villain, Pied Piper in the comics.

Are you satisfied with The Flash’s new live-action design? Are you hopeful that this spin-off will be picked up to series? Your comments are welcome below.
