Please, oh please.

Eight years.

That’s how long The Last Guardian has been in development. While most games would have been cancelled (numerous times) with nearly a decade under the hood, Sony has announced that the game is still in development at Sony’s Worldwide Studios.

There aren’t many other details known at this point, and while Scott Rohde, who gave an interview to IGN said they wouldn’t specify what platform the game would be coming to, it only makes sense that it would launch on the PlayStation 4.

Rohde noted that he really “like[s] talking about The Last Guardian. I love that people are still interested in it. That’s an honor to us. That’s not just me spinning… It’s really cool that people are still interested in it, and we’re trying to make the best thing we can out of The Last Guardian.”

The game, officially revealed at E3 2009, was a smash-hit for the crowd and became many people’s game of show. However, Team ICO, the studio behind the production, was notably absent from E3 2010 and any subsequent shows, despite an apparent release date in 2011.

Will we finally see the latest rendition of The Last Guardian at E3 2014? We’ve put it on our list every year for the past few shows, and while we hate to sound like a broken record, we have to assume that it will eventually rear it’s beautiful, next-gen head, so we’ll go ahead and predict it now: The Last Guardian will be the big hit of E3 2014.
