It was shown off before we even saw the PlayStation 4 console in the flesh. In fact, Driveclub was touted as a system-selling racer, of which Sony has no shortage.

It will likely still sell systems as the first racing game designed exclusively for Sony’s new console, but those sales won’t begin until October.

Earlier today, Sony announced that the title, developed by UK-based Evolution Studios, will hit the PS4 on October 7 in North America, followed by an October 8 and October 10 release in Europe and the UK, respectively.

An admittedly-beautiful video has been released highlighting the newly-announced release date, showing off the wide selection of cars, stunning imagery, gorgeous environments, and insert-your-own-hyperbole-here racing physics. Take a look at the video above.

We expect to hear more about Driveclub as we get closer to its launch, and of course, expect to be able to play the social-minded racing title at E3 in just a few weeks.
