Those who still play Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 religiously, or at least regularly, have likely had today circled on their mental and physical calendars. That’s because it marks the launch of the massively multiplayer shooter’s first major expansion: Warlords of New York. As its title suggests, it brings the series back to the city in which it began.
In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Division Agents will go on the ultimate manhunt for Aaron Keener, a former Agent who has now gone rogue. Keener, along with his network of Rogue Agents, is now a major threat to the burgeoning rebirth of civilization. To track down Keener, Agents will roam the untamed living open-world of Lower Manhattan; a former Dark Zone that was hit by a devastating hurricane that struck New York City harder than anywhere else in the US. Set 8 months after the events that occurred in the first game, Agents are tasked to explore 4 new named zones, each crafted at a 1:1 New York scale, including Two Bridges, Civic Center, Battery Park and Financial District. Before confronting Keener, players must first track down and take on each of his Rogue Agents. Each Rogue Agent has their own unique back story – and a new skill that would be earned once the Rogue Agent is taken down.
So, what does this add-on offer, in terms of changes and enhancements?
- The introduction of a 3 month season (end-game) mode
- The return of global events
- An RPG-focused overhaul, which builds diversity, streamlines gear and allows players to better read and manage their inventories
- Revitalized dark zones
- A level cap increase from 30-40, 4 new skills and an infinite progression system called SHD levels
Also worth noting: Ubisoft has stated that seasonal post-launch content will begin on March 10th, while Stadia users will be given access to this add-on on the 17th.
Those with interest can purchase The Division 2‘s Warlords expansion on its own, or purchase it with the game itself. That specific new version is called The Division 2: Warlords of New York Edition.
