When we think of Nickelodeon, the first thing that comes to mind is Rugrats or Rocko’s Modern World. After that, it’s Ren & Stimpy, which was arguably the best of the three shows.
Earlier today, GameMill Entertainment announced that icons Ren & Stimpy have joined the stable of available fighters in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. As a result, fans will be able to pummel other Nickelodeon characters as the dog and cat duo, who will act as one combined character.
They have a knack for using each other as weapons, which really helps the slapstick comedy of the show come to life,” stated game designer Matias R Singer. “In the game, Ren hitches a ride on Stimpy’s shoulders, which makes them a bit slower than other characters. However, they make up for it by being able to attack in multiple directions. They also have attacks which hit twice, with Ren dealing fast-but-low damage, followed by a stronger but later attack from Stimpy.”
“Ren & Stimpy are definitely on the classic side of the character spectrum. I’m a 90’s kid and I absolutely loved The Ren & Stimpy Show growing up,” says project manager Joel Nystrom. “They were so refreshingly dirty and disturbed compared to everything else at the time. I loved and continue to love them to bits.”
“I think everyone involved with the game wanted Ren & Stimpy so their inclusion was a no-brainer.”
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is expected to release onto PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch this fall.
