New PlayStation video series highlights pro athletes who prove that Play Has No Limits

In support of its global Play Has No Limits initiative, PlayStation Canada has teamed up with two notable professional athletes from the Toronto market. Through their stories, viewers will learn what each individual persevered through in order to reach his ultimate goal of playing in either the National Hockey League or the National Basketball Association.

The first two videos in this series — which comes via a partnership between PlayStation Canada, Media Molecule and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment — highlight both Wayne Simmonds of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dalano Banton of the Toronto Raptors. Each one is a person of colour, or Black athlete if you prefer, and ended up playing for their hometown teams. While Simmonds grew up in Scarborough, Banton grew up in Rexdale.

“Simmonds and Banton are incredible role models with powerful stories of pushing the boundaries of play which embody the ethos of our brand,” says Shelly Walia, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for PlayStation Canada, “It was an honour to work in collaboration with MLSE, Media Molecule and the Dreams teams to bring their inspirational stories to life in a way that shows Play Has No Limits.”

In addition to the videos, fans will be encouraged to submit their own stories of how they overcame limits to achieve their dreams and goals through the Maple Leafs and Raptors apps. PlayStation will donate CAD$6.00 for each qualifying entry towards the MLSE Foundation Change the Game campaign (https://www.mlsefoundation.org/). Each person submitting a story will have a chance to win a Toronto Maple Leafs or Toronto Raptors prize pack. Entries for submission begin March 7 and close March 28. More information can be found on the Maple Leafs and Raptors apps upon contest launch.
