April will be both lighthearted and apocalyptic for PlayStation Plus subscribers

March is almost over, and that means new games will soon be given away through PlayStation Plus. Although we’re still several days away from that happening, Sony has once again provided advance notice as to which titles subscribers will be gifted.

Since March 2019 is still close to a year away, next month’s offerings will continue to provide free PlayStation 3 and Vita games. However, once March 8, 2019 rolls around, that will all change and the program will then become PS4 only. There’s still a ways to go before that happens, though.

So, which games will be free in April? An eclectic mix, for sure.

On the PlayStation 4 side of things, PS Plus subscribers will be given two very different titles. One is a lighthearted, arcade racing game that pays homage to the racers of yesteryear, with that being Trackmania Turbo. The other, which will take you upwards of thirty-five to forty hours to complete, is a grim, apocalyptic action/adventure game. That is, Avalanche’s decent take on Mad Max, which came out a couple of years ago.

Those who still use their PS3 consoles can look forward to In Space We Brawl, an intergalactic affair that is described as being a “frantic, couch twin-stick shooter” by its developers. That, plus 2007’s Toy Home, a Sony Computer Entertainment published arcade racer that doesn’t demand a lot from its players.

The Vita will not be left out, and its owners will be gifted with two additional games, those being an updated classic (Q*Bert Reloaded) and the side-scrolling beat ’em up, 99 Vidas. What’s noteworthy here is that Q*Bert has cross-buy functionality with the PS3 and PS4, meaning that you won’t need a Vita to play it.

Needless to say, there’s a good mix of games coming to PlayStation Plus in April, and the PS4 is in for an especially big month.
